The Xiaomi 17 series is arriving ahead of schedule. Originally tipped for a late September debut, the company now confirms a September 25 launch in China four days earlier than expected.
Xiaomi 17 series debut confirmed with first design reveal

Alongside the announcement, Xiaomi has officially revealed the back design of the non-Pro model. While the Pro variant is expected to keep the secondary display, the standard Xiaomi 17 drops that feature but gains a refined, more modern camera module.
Xiaomi 17 series drops the square for a squircle
One of the most noticeable shifts is the new “squircle” camera island. It trades the boxier design of the Xiaomi 15 for something closer to what Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro is doing. All three cameras and the flash fit neatly within the island, hinting at a cleaner layout overall.
The specs and pricing expectations
Xiaomi hasn’t locked in pricing yet, but company president Lu Weibing hinted the standard model will match last year’s price point. That puts it roughly around ¥4,599 (≈$624 USD for the 12GB + 256GB configuration), depending on region and launch bundles.
Expected specs for the base Xiaomi 17 include:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip
- 6.3-inch AMOLED display
- Triple rear cameras
- Compact design for one-handed use
The focus seems to be balancing high-end features with a slightly smaller footprint, a segment often overlooked.
The lineup will split Pro and non-Pro features
As with previous launches, Xiaomi appears to be drawing a sharper line between the Pro and standard models. The Pro will likely get more premium hardware, possibly with a larger screen and additional software features tied to the secondary display.
Xiaomi 17 series shows early, but waits for no one
The clock just moved up. With the Xiaomi 17 series now just days away, the company isn’t holding back. Design teases, chipset confirmations, and pricing clues are all pointing to a tight launch window and zero hesitation.
