A new leak about Xiaomi’s flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to unveil in China later this month, has added fuel to ongoing speculation. Fresh spy shots shared on Weibo offer an early look at the phone’s potential design, while the source’s hints at significant changes to the camera system have further fueled excitement.
Revamped Camera Module Design
The leaked images show the device, believed to be the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, encased in a protective case, but the camera layout is clear enough to confirm a shift from the circular module seen on the previous Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

The images reveal a more compact yet densely packed setup, with three prominent sensors clearly visible. One of these sensors appears to be a periscope telephoto lens, accompanied by additional apertures that could house a flash and secondary sensors.
According to recent reports, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s rear camera setup will feature a triple rear camera unit, marking a departure from its predecessor’s quad-camera setup:
- Main Camera: A massive 1-inch 50-megapixel primary sensor, likely the OmniVision OV50X. (The OmniVision OV50X is a sensor designed for flagship phones that offers high dynamic range and superior low-light performance in a single exposure.)
- Periscope Telephoto: A massive 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
- Ultra-Wide Angle: One 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
While the leaked image shows the device in black with a metal frame and exposed screw cutouts, the appearance of the final model, which will be available at retail, is not yet clear.
The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, manufactured on a 3nm process. It is also rumored to pack a large battery ranging from 6,000mAh to 7,000mAh. While Xiaomi hasn’t officially confirmed the device or any of its features yet, these latest images raise expectations for the upcoming flagship.
