Xiaomi’s flagship release schedule is undergoing a major change this year. Last year, the Xiaomi 15 series launched in China at the end of October, while its top-of-the-line model, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, arrived globally in February. However, this year’s launch of the Xiaomi 17 series in China, which was pushed back to September, has raised the question of whether the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will also arrive in February.
Camera Monster Arrives Earlier Than Expected
Digital Chat Station (DCS), known for its reliable leaks, claimed on Weibo that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be officially announced in China in December. This means the series’ most powerful model will arrive earlier than expected for the Chinese market, but the global launch is still likely to be postponed.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with hardware components that aim to reach the pinnacle of mobile performance:
- Processor: The device is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
- Charging: It is expected to meet high-speed expectations and support 100W wired charging.
- Display: In terms of display features, the device is expected to offer features and quality very similar to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s display.
This new member of Xiaomi’s camera-focused Ultra series will come with an ambitious quad-rear camera setup:
- Main Camera: A new 50MP main sensor with improved in-sensor zoom.
- Telephoto Macro: A striking new 200MP telephoto macro camera.
- Other Lenses: An ultra-wide lens and possibly a second short-range telephoto lens are also expected to be included in the package.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s December launch in China raises hopes that the launch schedule for global markets will be brought forward.
