Xiaomi just dropped a new 45W GaN fast charger in China, and it’s ticking all the right boxes: compact, foldable, protocol-packed and surprisingly affordable at just around $8.

The new Xiaomi 45W mini charger is built using GaN (gallium nitride) tech, which allows for high power output in a small form factor. According to Xiaomi, it’s 47% smaller than standard chargers offering similar wattage, making it easy to toss in a bag or pocket.

Xiaomi GaN fast charger supports multiple fast-charging protocols
One of the biggest selling points here is multi-protocol support. Xiaomi’s compact adapter works with:
- PPS (Programmable Power Supply)
- QC (Quick Charge)
- PD (Power Delivery)
That compatibility stretches across a wide range of brands and devices including Apple’s iPhone. Xiaomi claims it can charge the iPhone 16 Pro Max to 55% in 30 minutes, and the Redmi Note 14 Pro to 60% in the same time. Even accessories and smaller gadgets can safely draw power, thanks to its smart output scaling.
Price is unbeatable but there’s no cable included
The charger launched in China for CNY 54.90, which translates to roughly $8 USD. That’s well below the cost of most name-brand alternatives, especially those with GaN components. Still, Xiaomi didn’t include a cable in the box. If you need one, a compatible 100W USB-C cable will run you around the same price.
Will the Xiaomi GaN fast charger launch globally?
As of now, Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed an international release for the 45W mini charger. That said, the company tends to bring most of its accessory lineup to other markets. There’s a good chance this slick little charger will show up on global shelves or import sites sooner rather than later.
