Xiaomi has announced its new radio called Walkie-Talkie 3 Chat Edition, targeting amateur radio users. The device, which draws attention with its compact and stylish design, was launched in China with a price tag of only $18.

The device with the model number XMDJJA01FY is 163 mm x 55 mm x 32 mm in size and weighs 136.6 grams. Operating in the 430–440 MHz UHF amateur band, the radio offers a range of up to 5 km thanks to its 3W transmission power.

The product can provide coverage up to 10,000 m² in closed and crowded areas such as shopping malls. The radio, which can operate without being connected to cellular networks, will be a reliable communication alternative, especially in open areas.
The prominent features of the device include a 2000 mAh battery that offers 10 hours of continuous use and 120 hours of standby time. The radio, which is charged via the USB-C port, can also be used as a headphone jack.
The product, which can quickly match frequencies between multiple devices with 16 channel synchronization, also allows settings to be transferred wirelessly to other devices with the air-to-air copying feature.
Users will be able to control the radio via the Xiaomi Intercom app or the Mijia app add-on. In addition, manual operation will be possible thanks to the physical buttons and voice feedback support.
