Xiaomi isn’t waiting for launch day to stir up buzz the Pad 8 series has just been teased in an official image, confirming its arrival alongside the upcoming Xiaomi 17 phones. The Xiaomi Pad 8 series may not have spec sheets out in the wild just yet, but we’re already getting a clear view of what’s coming.

In the photo shared by Xiaomi, two tablets are featured, likely the standard Pad 8 and its beefier sibling, the Pad 8 Pro. Both appear to stick with the familiar flat-edge chassis of their predecessors. Just like the Pad 7 lineup, the overall shape remains conservative, but not without purpose. The image also confirms stylus support and a keyboard accessory, which signals Xiaomi’s continued push into the work-and-play hybrid space.

Don’t expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on the non-Ultra models. Current leaks suggest that both the regular and Pro versions of the Xiaomi Pad 8 series will instead feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. That’s still a notable upgrade from last year’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and 8s Gen 3 chips used in the Pad 7 range.

So far, the Pad 8 Ultra is nowhere in sight. If it arrives, the big question is whether Xiaomi sticks with its custom Xring SoC or shifts to Qualcomm’s new top-tier chip. For context, the Pad 7 Ultra came equipped with Xiaomi’s in-house silicon, but that model never left China.

While the Xiaomi Pad 8 series grabs the spotlight, the Pad Mini also deserves a nod. Smaller in size but not in specs, it’s confirmed to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+, a solid option with global availability. Unlike its Ultra siblings, the Mini won’t be stuck behind regional barriers.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s shaping up for the Pad 8 family:

    • Pad 8: Snapdragon 8 Elite, standard display, stylus support
    • Pad 8 Pro: Snapdragon 8 Elite, likely bigger screen, stylus + keyboard compatibility
    • Pad 8 Ultra (TBD): Possibly next-gen Xring or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
    • Pad Mini: Dimensity 9400+, compact build, global launch confirmed

Even without full hardware details, the Xiaomi Pad 8 series already makes its case. A blend of familiar design, refined accessory support, and upgraded silicon paints a clear picture: Xiaomi’s not reinventing the tablet, but it’s sharpening its edges. The real question now? How far they’ll push the Ultra.
