Xiaomi President Lu Weibing conducted a significant test drive in Germany of the company’s highly anticipated electric car, the SU7 Ultra. During this journey, which stretched from Berlin to Hamburg and then to Frankfurt, Lu Weibing experienced both the vehicle’s performance and the European charging infrastructure firsthand.
Target for the European Market: 2027
Weibing, who traveled approximately 800 km in total, capitalized on the fact that there are no speed limits on some sections of Germany’s Autobahn. According to a statement on Weibo, Chairman Weibing reached speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour (160 mph) in the SU7 Ultra, stating that the vehicle remained “very stable” even at this high speed.

As an inevitable part of the journey, Lu Weibing also used charging facilities in Germany, describing the infrastructure as “very good.” Another interesting observation he made while waiting for a charger was the intense interest the car received. Many people recognized the car, some even knowing its name, and approached it to inspect it closely.
This is considered a very positive development for Xiaomi. The SU7 Ultra’s previous recognition for its performance at the Nürburgring has certainly contributed to its recognition among German drivers.
These positive experiences strengthen Xiaomi’s strategies for the European market. The company plans to begin car sales in Europe in 2027. This test drive, conducted by Lu Weibing himself, and the positive feedback from the German market are significant motivations for Xiaomi’s global electric car ambitions.
