As competition intensifies in the tech world, the dynamics of the smartphone market shifted in August. Xiaomi surpassed Apple in sales performance, securing the second position globally. So, which brand holds the top spot?
Competition in the Tech World Heats Up: Xiaomi Surpasses Apple!
According to a report by market research firm Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi overtook Apple in global smartphone sales in August, marking the first time since last summer that the tech giant has surpassed Apple.
Xiaomi increased its shipments by 22% year-on-year in the first half of the year. The company managed to maintain stable sales in August, outpacing Apple, which saw a drop in sales ahead of the launch of new iPhone models.
The competition between Xiaomi and Apple in sales isn’t surprising, as users are expecting new iPhone models in September. Consequently, sales for Apple typically slow during the summer. This seasonal impact allowed Xiaomi to balance declines in key markets and continue its growth.
Researchers noted that Xiaomi is able to offer leading models across all price segments, which has helped boost its sales. Additionally, economic recovery in Xiaomi’s main markets has increased demand for entry-level phones. However, it’s important to remember that Samsung still holds the top position.
On the other hand, Xiaomi is making strides in the premium segment with its new foldable and high-end devices. However, with the launch of the iPhone 16, Apple is expected to reclaim its leadership.
