On May 22, 2025, Xiaomi unveiled its first electric SUV, the YU7, marking a significant milestone on the company’s 15th anniversary. Building upon the success of the SU7 sedan, the YU7 positions itself as a formidable contender in the luxury electric SUV market.

Performance That Rivals Supercars
The YU7 Max AWD variant boasts a staggering 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 3.23 seconds, delivering 508 kW of power and 866 Nm of torque. This performance places it in the realm of hypercars, challenging established players like Tesla’s Model X. The vehicle’s top speed reaches 253 km/h, showcasing Xiaomi’s commitment to high-performance electric mobility.
Impressive Range and Fast Charging for Xiaomi YU7

Equipped with a 101.7 kWh NCM battery, the YU7 Max offers a CLTC range of 760 km. The RWD variant, with a 96.3 kWh LFP battery, extends the range up to 835 km. Thanks to Xiaomi’s 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, the YU7 supports 5.2C charging speeds, allowing drivers to add up to 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Luxury Meets Technology

Inside, the YU7 features Nappa leather “zero gravity” seats with 10-point massage functions and a 123° recline for front passengers. Rear passengers enjoy 135° electrically adjustable seats and a 6.68-inch touch control screen for climate, music, and navigation. The dashboard houses a 1.1-meter-wide “HyperVision” display, integrating three Mini LED screens with 108 PPD retina-level resolution, providing a seamless interface for driving data, media, and customizable widgets.
Advanced Safety and Autonomous Driving
Safety is paramount in the YU7, featuring a 2200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel integrated roll cage, a 20-in-1 aluminium die-cast front frame, and a steel-aluminium hybrid body referred to as an “armour cage.” The battery pack includes a reinforced shell with a bullet-resistant coating. Standard across all variants are Lidar sensors, Nvidia Drive AGX Thor (700 TOPS), 4D mmWave radar, and ALD-coated anti-glare cameras. Xiaomi’s in-house developed end-to-end assisted driving system underscores its dedication to autonomous driving technology.
Xiaomi YU7 Design and Dimensions
Built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, the YU7 measures 4999 mm in length, 1996 mm in width, and 1608 mm in height, with a 3000 mm wheelbase. It offers nine exterior colors, including a green shade inspired by Colombian emeralds, and features inward-folding electric door handles with ambient lighting and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support for smartphone-based keyless entry and trunk access.
Market Positioning and Future Prospects
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun emphasized the YU7’s unique appeal in China’s competitive SUV market, stating that it combines elegant styling, high performance, and advanced smart technologies. The YU7’s official launch is scheduled for July 2025, with pricing details to be announced. However, Lei Jun has ruled out the rumored price point of 199,000 yuan (approximately $27,600 USD), indicating a premium positioning for the vehicle.
With the YU7, Xiaomi continues to expand its footprint in the electric vehicle sector, offering a compelling blend of performance, luxury, and technology that is poised to disrupt the market.
