Xiaomi used its own XRING O1 chip in the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra that it introduced last week. The brand also made history as the first Chinese company to mass produce with a 3nm production process. Recent developments show that the company may use its own processors in its more affordable models in the near future.
Xiaomi will also use its own processors in its affordable models
Xiaomi will not limit its chipset work to just the XRING O1. While the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra target the upper segment, it is stated that the company plans to develop customized chipsets for entry-level and mid-range devices.

However, this will not happen immediately. According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, if things go well, chipset production for the entry-level and mid-range segments may also come on this basis. Xiaomi, which has shown that it can compete with giants such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple and Samsung with the XRING O1, seems quite ambitious in this field.
After the XRING O1, Xiaomi’s next step will be to develop its own modem. Following Apple’s path with the C1 5G baseband chip, Xiaomi is also aiming for independence in this area.
However, considering that Apple has experienced difficulties for years in this process, a similar process is likely to occur for Xiaomi. A Xiaomi executive stated that they are just at the beginning of this journey and that the process will take a long time. In short, it may take a few years to launch its own modem.
For now, there is no official statement on whether Xiaomi processors will come to more affordable models along with the successors of the XRING O1. However, sources predict that this transition could happen in the next few years.
