WhatsApp aims to increase synchronization between connected devices. The platform is finally working on a chat locking feature between connected devices. This will take the privacy and security of messages to the next level.
WhatsApp gains the ability to lock chat between devices
The messaging platform owned by Meta has taken important steps to protect user privacy over the past year. In this context, it introduced individual chat locks, allowing users to protect their chats with a screen lock.
Following this, the “Secret Lock” feature allowed users to assign passwords to locked chat folders. This ensured that chats were both stored in the folder and received an additional layer of security.
However, existing chat locks had to be configured individually on each device. The new synchronized chat lock feature aims to solve this problem. You will now be able to access all your secret chats with a single lock.
Synchronized chat locking, seen in Android beta version 2.24.14, will apply the privacy settings selected by users to all devices. This means that activating a chat lock on a phone will automatically lock the same chats on tablets and computers.
This feature will ensure that chats are protected regardless of the platform. It will also simplify the privacy management process for users with multiple devices.
Note that the synchronized chat lock feature is currently in testing. However, it shows WhatsApp’s commitment to privacy, which means that it will soon be released for the stable version.
