Instagram is working on a new feature for its popular video format, Reels, that will radically change the user experience on the platform. Discovered by app researcher Radu Oncescu, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode will allow users to do other things while watching Reels.
Reels is getting PiP
This feature, familiar on video platforms like YouTube, will allow a Reels video to be transformed into a small window in the corner of the screen. This will allow users to continue watching the video while scrolling through their Instagram feed, checking their messages, or visiting different profiles. Its biggest advantage is that the video will continue playing even if you completely leave the Instagram app.

How Will It Work?
The feature, which is being tested with a limited number of users, will be very simple to use. While a Reels video is playing, a “Picture-in-Picture” button will appear in the options menu. Clicking this button will automatically shrink the video to a floating window on the screen.
This useful feature, which is still in the testing phase, has no specific date for when it will be available to all users. However, the innovation is expected to make video viewing habits on Instagram more flexible and practical.
