Samsung is reshaping its flagship phone lineup for 2026, and its new naming strategy is sparking debate among fans. Recent leaks have raised questions about whether the Galaxy S26 Pro deserves the “Pro” moniker. Users may not appreciate the device’s features. Here are the details.
Is the Galaxy S26 Pro “Pro” as its name suggests?
Reports suggest that Samsung will release three new models: the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. However, reliable leaker Ice Universe argues that the “Pro” designation doesn’t live up to its name. In a post on the X platform, he stated that the S26 Pro doesn’t offer enough innovations to warrant the title.

He noted that the only two notable changes to the device are the new sensor in the main camera (same sensor size) and the new 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, replacing the 12-megapixel camera on the S25. The criticism stems from the fact that the 50-megapixel sensor actually has only a marginally larger sensor area.
Other features, such as the 10MP telephoto lens and Full HD+ display, are said to remain unchanged. This reinforces criticism that the S26 Pro is merely a refresh rather than a “real advancement.”
However, it’s also known that the phone won’t be completely devoid of innovations. The device is expected to feature either Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 processor, depending on the region. The battery is also rumored to be slightly larger.
The Galaxy S26 Pro may still have enough flagship hardware for Galaxy fans looking for an upgrade. The lack of a periscope telephoto lens remains a key differentiator between the Pro and Ultra models, positioning the Ultra as Samsung’s photography showcase.
