Tesla has announced that it will discontinue Steam support in its popular Model S and Model X vehicles. Introduced in 2022, this feature integrated Steam into the cars, allowing thousands of games to be played. The removal of Steam support will only affect new vehicle owners for now.
What About Other Applications?
In a message to new Model S and Model X owners, the car manufacturer stated, “We are updating the gaming computer in your Tesla Model X, and this vehicle will no longer be able to run Steam games.” Other in-car entertainment features, such as Tesla Arcade, Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services, will not be affected by this decision.
Although Tesla has not detailed the reasons behind this decision, it is speculated that technical challenges, licensing issues, or strategic changes might be involved. There are also speculations that Tesla plans to integrate other gaming platforms or new features in the future.
Tesla emphasized its commitment to enhancing the in-car experience and maintaining innovation through new partnerships or technologies. While this move may disappoint some gamers, Tesla is expected to offer more robust entertainment options in the future.
Tesla’s luxury sedan, the Model S, has been a pioneer in the electric vehicle market since its release in 2012. The Model S can travel up to approximately 650 km on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 2 seconds, thanks to its long-range battery and high-performance motors.
With advanced autopilot features, a minimalistic and high-quality interior design, and a large touchscreen, the Model S provides a comfortable and technologically advanced driving experience. The Model X, Tesla’s SUV model launched in 2015, offers high performance with powerful motors and an all-wheel-drive system, providing a range of up to 560 km.
The Model X features Falcon Wing doors and a spacious interior, making it an ideal vehicle for families with a seating capacity of up to seven people. Like the Model S, the Model X is equipped with advanced autonomous driving features and Tesla’s top-tier in-car entertainment and safety technologies. These features make the Model S and Model X strong representations of Tesla’s innovative approach and leadership in the electric vehicle market.
