YouTube is preparing to blur the thumbnails of videos in search results that contain sexual themes. The platform is taking this step to provide users with a safer and more controlled browsing experience. The new feature is currently only available to a limited number of users.
YouTube will blur the visuals of sexual videos
According to the statement made in YouTube’s Community section, thumbnail blurring only targets certain types of content. However, there is no clear definition yet as to which types of sexual themes will be affected by this filter. This has caused great confusion among some content producers.

The video title, channel name and descriptions will remain fully visible. Users can also manually remove the blur from the thumbnails if they wish. However, unlike the Safe Search feature on Google’s search engine, YouTube’s new system only censors at a visual level.
Content is not completely removed from the results; only the thumbnails are shown blurred. During the testing process, YouTube will monitor whether content that is not against the Community Guidelines but may be sensitive to some users is being viewed inadvertently.
It is currently unknown when the feature will be available to all users. So what do you think about this? Do you think this feature will really benefit users? How many hours do you spend on YouTube in your daily life? You can easily share your answers with us in the comments section below.
