YouTube has cut off revenues for channels that make money with fake movie trailers. Trailers produced using artificial intelligence and viewed by millions had caught the attention of Hollywood studios. Major production companies such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, and Sony Pictures stated that such videos constituted copyright infringement and instead of directly closing accounts, they directed ad revenues to them.
YouTube is punishing those who post fake movie trailers
Following these developments, YouTube has canceled the monetization feature of channels such as Screen Culture and KH Studio, which stand out with fan-made trailers. The platform stated that this content was against its monetization policies and suspended the partnership program of the channels in question. Following the decision, it was reported that previous ad revenues from fake trailers were also cut off. This development was especially pleasing to filmmakers.

Although the producers of the fake trailers claim that this content is harmless, the unauthorized use of actors and the increase in AI-powered content have caused great concern in Hollywood. The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, in particular, has repeatedly demanded that harsh measures be taken against such content, stating that videos produced with artificial intelligence are damaging the industry.
YouTube, which did not remain indifferent to the reactions, has also made the future of such content on the platform questionable with the revenue cut. So what do you think about this issue?
