Norway-based robotics startup 1X has officially announced the availability of its highly sought-after 1X Neo humanoid robot for pre-order. Introduced in recent months, the Neo has garnered attention as a special option designed specifically for integration into home life.
What tasks can the 1X Neo humanoid robot perform at home?
Designed for domestic tasks, this robot was demonstrated in realistic scenarios. In the published videos, the Neo serves coffee, sweeps floors, carries items, cleans counters, and wipes windows. It can also easily pick up small clutter around the home.
Thanks to a specially developed integrated artificial intelligence model, the Neo has the ability to move around without harming its environment. It can be controlled with voice commands. However, 1X CEO Bernt Børnich outlined an important requirement regarding the robot’s learning process.
Børnich noted that the robot’s AI system still needs to learn from real-world experiences. Therefore, purchasers must agree to human operators viewing the interior of their homes through the robot’s camera. The company emphasizes that this requirement is essential for collecting the training data necessary for product development.
The highly anticipated humanoid robot is available for pre-order as of October 29th. The Neo’s starting price is $20,000. The company plans to begin deliveries of the Neo to pre-order customers in 2026.
