As you may know, Nintendo is known as one of the strictest companies among console manufacturers when it comes to emulators and copyright infringements. The famous Japanese game and console manufacturer has now set its sights on YouTube channels that use emulators to play games.
Nintendo to Sue YouTubers!
Nintendo, which has sometimes sued even large content creators, is now targeting a YouTube channel called Retro Game Corps. The famous channel is known for reviewing portable retro gaming devices capable of emulation. However, many believe that Nintendo’s recent action against this channel is an excessively harsh intervention.
Retro Game Corps is a channel with over 500,000 subscribers, focusing on old gaming systems. The channel’s owner, Russ, showcases how games from NES, SNES, Game Boy, N64, and even Wii U perform on various portable devices. These reviews aim to help consumers understand which device performs better.
However, Nintendo recently had one of Retro Game Corps’ videos related to the Wii U removed for copyright infringement.
Russ confirmed the situation in a YouTube statement, saying, “My worst fear has come true, and it appears that Nintendo is specifically targeting me.” After the Wii U video was taken down, his channel received a second copyright strike. Russ pointed out that his previous videos contained similar content but stated that this incident is on a different level.
The company is not expected to back down from its stance. We will see if the famous console manufacturer makes a statement on the matter in the coming days. Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us.
