Nvidia has released a software update that fixes the black screen issue experienced with RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards. The company stated that this was due to incompatibility with older model motherboards.

The issue in question manifested itself as the screen not displaying an image during the computer’s restart. According to Nvidia, this problem mostly occurs on systems running in Legacy/CSM boot mode and without UEFI support.

Nvidia recommends users follow certain steps to fix this incompatibility that results in the screen going black. These include completely powering off the system before starting, updating the motherboard BIOS to the latest version, and ensuring that UEFI boot mode is active.
The company stated that users should contact their graphics card manufacturers directly for the VBIOS update required for the RTX 5060 series graphics cards to work properly on motherboards that do not support UEFI mode.
For such systems, Nvidia recommends using the “NVIDIA GPU UEFI Firmware Update Tool”, which can be downloaded directly from its website. This software automatically installs the VBIOS update for the RTX 5060 series and completely eliminates the black screen issue.
The company stated in its statement that the update only focuses on the black screen issue and does not include performance or other hardware improvements. So what do you think about this issue? You can easily share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
