As the US Department of Justice’s monopoly case against Google enters a new phase, artificial intelligence search engine Perplexity has come to the fore with a remarkable statement. Dmitry Shevelenko, one of the company’s executives, announced that they could be a candidate if Google is forced to sell its Chrome browser.
Perplexity could be a candidate for Google Chrome
Shevelenko, who explained how Google’s dominant position in the Android operating system and search engine limits artificial intelligence assistants, revealed in detail the commercial obstacles Perplexity experienced during this process. In addition, he stated that if they took control of Chrome, they could continue the same service by maintaining quality and without charging a fee.

Perplexity also announced that it wanted to cooperate with various phone manufacturers and mobile operators in the US, but most of these negotiations were unsuccessful due to Google’s dominance in the market. According to the allegations; negotiations for the pre-installed offering of the Perplexity application were fruitless due to possible “Google sanctions”.
The agreements that impose Google’s search engine as the default service also directly prevent alternative AI-based platforms like Perplexity from being integrated into devices. This situation leads to limited competition in the sector and limited service for users.
Although the sale of Google Chrome is currently speculative, the developments have been interpreted as a sign of large-scale structural changes in the technology world. So what do you think about this issue? Do you think the Google Chrome browser should be sold? You can easily share your views with us in the comments section below.
