Following the enormous success of the Fallout series, Blizzard’s legendary ARPG series Diablo is also on the agenda to enter the world of television. Rod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo series, thinks that the deep themes of the game can be successfully transferred to the television format.
Diablo TV series may be coming!
Right now, almost everyone is talking about Amazon Prime’s Fallout series. In an interview, Fergusson was asked if he would consider a series adaptation for Diablo following the success of Fallout. Fergusson said it was possible. Although there has been no official announcement yet, Fergusson stated that Diablo’s universal themes are suitable for an immersive television series.
Fergusson’s full description of the Diablo series is as follows:
“Yeah, I definitely think it could work. One of my favorite things about Diablo as an IP is that it has themes that a lot of people can relate to, like the conflict between the Higher Heavens and the Burning Hells and the struggle between Good and Evil. I think these kind of universal themes can be transferred very well to the television format. I wish I had something tangible to talk to you about today. But as a general idea, can such an adaptation succeed? I think absolutely yes.”
Diablo is not a story-driven game, but it has a well-established narrative. The series centers on a realm inhabited by angels, another realm inhabited by demons, and a realm inhabited by humans called Sanctuary. Sanctuary is a place where angels and demons often visit to influence humans for their own purposes.
