The number of electric vehicles in Turkey doubled in one year
The growth in the electric vehicle market has accelerated in recent years. While there were only 565 electric cars in traffic in 2015, this number had exceeded 1,000 as of 2019. The numbers, which have gradually increased over the past six years, exceeded 200,000 by 2024.

Remarkable data also emerged in the distribution of cars registered in traffic for the March 2025 period according to fuel type. While 48.1 percent of the vehicles participating in traffic in March were gasoline-powered, hybrid vehicles accounted for 30.5 percent.
Electric cars ranked third with a 12.9 percent rate during this period. In March, 12,221 new electric vehicles entered traffic. In the same period, the number of diesel vehicles was recorded as 7,192 and the number of LPG vehicles was recorded as 893. Thus, electric cars left both diesel and LPG vehicles behind in numbers.
