iPadOS 16.1 will have external monitor support
According to the announcements, the new software will have many new features including, external monitor support, a new Stage Manager, and more. While some of them were among the rumors, some others are new to everyone. Apple has officially given the release date of iPadOS 16, besides the new iPad Pro and iPad 10th Generation. The new software will be available to all iPad users on October 24.
Apple announced that the iPadOS 16 will get an update for external monitor support to the iPad as a part of Stage Manager. According to the release notes, this support will be available only to the M1 and M2 iPad Pro models.
Thanks to the new Stage Manager multitasking feature, you can use an all-new windowing system on your iPad. You can also create multiple different “stages” with different-sized windows for multiple applications and easily switch between each of those stages. Indeed, this feature would be available only to M1 iPads, but the company changed it and the iPad Pro models from 2018 and 2020 will also be able to use Stage Manager.
Apple will release the new iPadOS 16.1 to all iPad Pro models, the iPad Air 3rd Gen and later, the iPad 5 and later, and the iPad mini 5 and later. The new M2 iPad Pro models will get the update preinstalled.
