Jony Ive, the secret designer behind Apple products, left the company today. The designer who saved Apple from bankruptcy and worked with Steve Jobs for many years left in 2019. Then founded his own design company, Love From. This company was among its partners of Apple for three years. But now, the paths diverge entirely.
Jony Ive will no longer work with Apple
In the past, Jony Ive designed the earphones for iPod models. He also contributed to the design of the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch models. They say that even if he left the company in 2019, he kept contributing to the VR/AR headset that Apple was working on.
As it turned out, Iveleft Apple for his own design company LoveFrom in 2019 and did not break his connection with the famous technology company. LoveFrom says their first customer was Apple. However, it seems that Apple and LoveFrom will no longer work together.
LoveFrom’s contract with Apple is estimated to be worth $100 million. Under the agreement, Apple prohibits LoveFrom from undertaking any project it considers to compete with it. The reason for the separation was this contract clause.
It is alleged that the paths diverged due to the dispute over Ive’s request for freedom to choose his clients. It is also claimed that LoveFrom had to reject many reasonable offers due to this article. As far as we know, many designers left LoveFrom for this reason.
