Lenovo, breaking away from standard designs in computer technology, is ushering in a new era in display technology with its new ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept, which it is preparing to showcase at CES 2026. Building on the success of its rollable screen in the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 model, the company is bringing this to the professional segment, transforming it into a vertically extendable structure.
ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept Announced
Offering a compact 13.3-inch screen by default, the device can be extended to a spacious 16-inch workspace by sliding the screen upwards when needed. This change provides the user with more than 50% additional viewing area without increasing the space occupied on the desktop.

The most striking innovation on the design side is found in the rear cover. Unlike traditional opaque bodies, Lenovo uses a transparent glass surface, allowing the flexible OLED panel to fold away and be hidden behind this glass when not in use.
To protect the flexible parts of the panel exposed to external elements, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 technology, resistant to 180-degree bending, is used. The transparent cover not only offers a visual spectacle but also functions as a secondary screen, allowing notifications to be monitored and various smart interactions to be maintained even when closed.
Equipped with AI-focused features, the ThinkPad Rollable XD is described as part of Lenovo’s “contextual smart device” vision. The device includes a voice assistant, live translation systems, and touch-sensitive control mechanisms, allowing users to launch applications or switch modes much more intuitively.
While a commercial release date is not yet confirmed, this concept model offers a physical solution, particularly for programmers who review long lines of code and professionals who create vertical content. Lenovo’s move reinforces its strategy of transforming laptops from static devices into platforms that physically adapt to the user’s workflow.
