Microsoft has confirmed the performance issues that Outlook Classic users have been experiencing for a long time. The bug, which has been reported since November 2024 and causes abnormal increases in processor usage, especially when writing emails, has been officially acknowledged with the company’s latest statement.
Microsoft has confirmed the problem experienced in Outlook
The problem is seen in the Outlook Classic version running on the Windows operating system. CPU usage increases by 30% to 50% even when creating a new email. Some users even reported that their processors were working at full load even when only the “New Message” window was open.

It is stated that CPU temperatures exceeded almost 95 degrees in systems using Intel’s high-end Core i9-14900HX processor. No clear information has been shared yet about the source of the problem. However, it was stated that the bug occurred after the updates that came after Version 2406 Build 17726.20126, which was released in June 2024.
Microsoft has not yet released a permanent fix, but a temporary solution has been offered. During this process, users will be able to switch to the Semi-Annual version, which is considered more stable, by changing the Microsoft 365 update channel to avoid performance issues.
This transition makes it possible to use versions of the application that consume less CPU. It was also shared that the Microsoft Outlook team continues to investigate the issue; a permanent solution will be released in the future.
