Apple is planning some major design changes with the iPhone 16. Vertical cameras will return, similar to the camera setup seen on the iPhone 12. It was also stated that the Action button may come instead of the SIM card tray.
iPhone 16 design revealed with new units
New leaks have revealed new details about the design of the iPhone 16 series. Images published by a YouTube channel show units representing the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models.
The units, produced with a 3D printer, revealed design changes for the iPhone 16 series. The most important change seems to be in the standard and Plus variants. Accordingly, the vertical rear camera setup last seen in the iPhone 12 series will return with the iPhone 16.
The leaks also showed that there will be a new Action button on the side of the devices. This button, currently used on iPhone 15 Pro models, allows users to customize certain actions. With the iPhone 16 family, the Action button may replace the SIM card tray.
In this context, it is thought that Apple will switch to eSIM in more regions. It was also observed that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be taller than the current model.
On the other hand, thinner bezels mean that there is less space to absorb corner impacts when the phone falls to the ground. This also means that the screen of the device will break more quickly than previous models.
