The number of titles released by Steam in 2022 exceeded all expectation, bringing in a new world record

The yearly amount of newly released games has skyrocketed by 73%, hitting a record high in 2022.

Millions of people are using Steam. The number of game releases on Steam has been steadily increasing, with only seven games launched in 2004 while in 2018 it jumped to over 8100. However, there was a slight decrease in new releases in 2019 but it sharply increased again by 23%, reaching 9635 games in 2020. This was mainly due to the high demand for video games during the Covid pandemic.
The platform released the largest number of new games ever seen, with 10,963 new titles in 2022. The most popular games on Steam are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Lost Ark.
