The Galaxy A55 has become the first mid-range Samsung phone to receive the One UI 8 beta, and it’s happening now in India. This update, based on Android 16, comes in at around 1.9GB and includes the September 2025 security patch. Users who install it will get an early preview of Samsung’s next major software upgrade, though with all the risks that beta software usually brings.

One UI 8 is now rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5

Last month, Samsung confirmed that it would open up One UI 8 beta testing to more than just its Galaxy S25 series. With the A55 kicking off this expansion, it’s likely other A-series phones could follow soon.

Here’s how to join the beta if you’re in India:

    • Download or open the Samsung Members app
    • Sign in with the Samsung account used on your Galaxy A55
    • Look for the One UI 8 Beta Program banner
    • Register your device and enroll
    • Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install

Once downloaded, tap Install now, and your phone will reboot into the beta.

While it’s tempting to get early access, these builds can be buggy, sometimes critically so. Features may break, battery life can dip, and performance might not be stable. If your Galaxy A55 is your daily driver, think twice before jumping in.

Still, for those eager to test new features and help shape the final release, the A55 now has a front-row seat to Samsung’s next-gen software.
