OpenAI has introduced its next generation flagship artificial intelligence model, GPT-4.1. GPT-4.1 was developed as a direct successor to the GPT-4o model introduced last year. Significant improvements have been made in coding capabilities and the ability to correctly interpret user instructions compared to the previous model.
New AI model GPT-4.1 announced
GPT-4.1 is available in three different versions. In addition to the base model, the low-cost GPT-4.1 Mini, aimed at developers, and the GPT-4.1 Nano, optimised for speed, affordability and hardware compatibility.

Nano is positioned as the smallest and fastest OpenAI model to date. All versions can handle 1 million contexts, surpassing the 128,000-context limit of its predecessor GPT-4o. This plus extends the model’s context preservation and association capabilities in analysing multimodal content such as text, images and video.
The new model stands out not only for its capabilities but also for its price. GPT-4.1 will be 26 per cent cheaper than its predecessor GPT-4o. This development means a significant advantage in the increasingly competitive environment in the artificial intelligence model market. Ö
z Especially in the recent period, competitors such as DeepSeek, which stands out with its efficiency, have started to gain a place in the market, making the price-performance ratio much more critical. The launch was made after OpenAI’s decision to phase out the GPT-4 model over ChatGPT as of 30 April.
It was announced that the preview version of GPT-4.5 will also be removed from API access on 14 July, and it became clear that the company’s next major model, GPT-5, did not meet the planned schedule. CEO Sam Altman announced in a statement that the GPT-5 introduction was postponed for several months.
