AI has become remarkably adept at generating various types of content, such as visuals and sounds, that do not actually exist in reality. Consequently, this capability has caused misunderstandings, and misinformation spreads rapidly. Instagram has taken action to address this issue and improve the discernibility of AI-generated content within its platform.
Instagram is developing a tool to distinguish AI content
Alessandro Paluzzi, a well-known leaker in the industry, revealed that Meta is in the process of developing a new AI security tool for Instagram. According to his findings, users will be provided with tags indicating whether the shared content involves the use of AI or not. In fact, screenshots shared by Paluzzi clearly show a message stating, ‘The content’s creator or Meta states that this content was created or edited using AI.’
Although Meta has not yet issued an official statement, this move indicates the company’s efforts to eliminate the confusion caused by AI tools. It’s worth noting that last month, Meta and seven other companies announced their intentions to take various measures to address this issue.
While the specifics remain unknown at this time, it is expected that this AI content identification and disclosure feature will be based on the Llama 2 model. However, the release date for this feature is yet to be determined.
