While Samsung continues the distribution of One UI 7, the company is already hard at work on the next version, One UI 8. Recent reports indicate that the South Korean brand has started testing the new version on one of its popular models.
Samsung Is Testing One UI 8 on the Galaxy S23 Series
Samsung has begun testing the Android 16-based One UI 8 update on the Galaxy S23 series. This development suggests that the company plans to include its 2023 flagship phones in this year’s open beta program.

The Galaxy S23 has appeared in Geekbench tests under the model number SM-911U. The device scored 1,976 in single-core and 4,888 in multi-core tests. This is the first concrete evidence of Android 16 on the Galaxy S23 series, as the device was benchmarked running Android 16-based One UI 8.
This shows that Samsung has started internal testing of the new version. Interestingly, the company seems to be adopting a different strategy this year, aiming to release the update first on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 instead of the Galaxy S flagship series. If all goes according to plan, the stable version rollout will begin following the launch of these new foldable phones in July.
