Officially launched with a strong focus on performance and AI processing, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite will also allow manufacturers to keep their smartphones updated for longer. Here are the details…
Qualcomm’s new chip goes to the next level with update support
Commenting on the issue, Qualcomm’s vice president and general manager Chris Patrick explained that the Snapdragon 8 Elite will allow smartphones to receive Android updates for up to 8 years.
Qualcomm’s support includes the operating system that comes pre-installed on the smartphone, making it eligible to receive 7 more major Android updates.
However, as expected, not all devices released with Snapdragon 8 Elite will reach the 7th update year. Everything will depend on the manufacturer’s software policy in this regard.
Many manufacturers, even if they have enough processing power, are still not very ‘well-intentioned’ about developing their own interfaces and adapting them to older smartphones.
Nevertheless, Qualcomm’s determination in this regard seems to increase the pressure on some Android manufacturers to keep their smartphones updated for longer.
