Released in 2002, The Thing is set to return after many years. Nightdive Studios shared new details from the remastered version of the game that debuted 22 years ago. The visuals released for The Thing: Remastered revealed how the game will look like.
The Thing: Remastered will look like this
A horror-survival game inspired by the movie The Thing is set to bring back the iconic franchise. The movie, first made by John Carpenter in 1982, was a big hit in the science fiction world. Nightdive has brought The Thing back to the agenda.
Using the KEX game engine, the remastered version will actually stick to the game that debuted in 2002. However, the developer said it has upgraded the visual quality of the game to support up to 4K resolution at 120 FPS.
The new screenshots also revealed the improvements made with the remastered version. Accordingly, character models and textures have been rendered in higher resolution. 3D rendering and animations have been reworked with updated lighting and atmospheric effects.
Beyond the graphical enhancements, Nightdive said it will stick to the gameplay of the 2002 production. Players will continue to take on the role of investigating a station in Antarctica. This means determining which character is the alien before it’s too late.
The Thing: Remastered will be released later this year for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
