Ubisoft has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its long-rumored action-adventure game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game, set in Japan, will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 users on December 2, 2025.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Be Available for Switch 2
The game’s arrival on Switch 2 has been rumored for over a year. Ubisoft confirmed these rumors with its fall roadmap. The game will be released in both digital and physical formats. However, as with some new Ubisoft games, the physical version will be sold as a game key card.
According to Ubisoft, the Switch 2 version of Shadows stands out with its improved parkour system and more fluid movement mechanics. It also adds new free story missions and new side mission types called Animus Quests.
Furthermore, all free content from Shadows’ existing platforms will be included in the Switch 2 version. However, the recently released Claws of Awaji expansion will not be included in this version at launch.
This downloadable content (DLC) will be added to the game in 2026. Finally, the game features cross-platform save support (cross-progression) through Ubisoft Connect. This feature allows game progress saved on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC to be seamlessly carried over to the Switch 2.
