A recent report revealed Rockstar Games’ canceled Grand Theft Auto games. It turns out that the company bought the naming rights to games like GTA Tokyo, GTA Bogota and GTA Sin City years ago.
GTA Tokyo, GTA Bogota and GTA Sin City
Information leaked by a former Rockstar employee has revealed that Rockstar is looking to expand after the success of GTA 3 and Vice City. Accordingly, the studio started working on games set in Tokyo, Bogota and Las Vegas in 2003.
GTA Tokyo, in particular, seemed to have moved beyond the conceptual stage. Sources revealed that Rockstar has begun developing a PS2 project. Sam Houser, co-founder of the studio, traveled to Tokyo to promote the GTA games.
But Rockstar experienced many hurdles during the development phase. It realized that moving staff to Asia for research and photography would be expensive. Cultural and communication barriers would also complicate production management.
Accordingly, here are the leaked and canceled GTA games so far:
- GTA 64 and GTA Sega Saturn
- GTA 1.5
- GTA 2 N64
- GTA 2: Berlin
- GTA 2000
- GTA Online Crime World
- GTA 2.5 (GTA Miami)
- GTA Tokyo, GTA Bogota and GTA Sin City
- GTA Advance (Destination Software)
- GTA Advance (Crawfish Interactive)
- GTA 5 DLC
- GTA San Andreas VR
Of course, it must be said that the company has shifted all its efforts to GTA 6. Accordingly, the GTA series continues to be the highest earning entertainment product of all time.
