After 30 years at PlayStation, Jim Ryan, who has been CEO since 2019, will retire on April 1. Ryan, who made significant contributions to the company’s growth, participated in Sony’s podcast. Making statements about the company’s development from past to present, Ryan also made an important statement for the console .
Jim Ryan stated that the PlayStation 2, which was discontinued in 2013, has sold more than 160 million units so far. This figure shouldn’t come as a surprise because it is already the world’s best-selling console. Previously, there were various estimates of 155 million.
The console was powered by a 295 MHz 128-bit Emotion Engine processor and a 147 MHz “Graphics Synthesizer” graphics unit. The console had 32 MB GDDR3 RAM and supported DVD-ROM, CD-ROM storage.
