Turkey’s Electric Vehicle Count Surpasses 476,000 Units

Turkey's electric vehicle count reached 476,934 in August 2026. Discover the latest data on the nation's charging infrastructure and market growth trends.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) of Turkey released its comprehensive report for August 2026, revealing a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward sustainable mobility. According to the latest data, the total number of electric vehicles (EVs) registered on Turkish roads has reached 476,934, while the nationwide charging infrastructure has expanded to 47,908 individual points. This rapid surge in electric vehicle numbers reflects a growing public commitment to decarbonization and technological advancement. By providing these updated metrics, the EPDK underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in building a robust charging network to support the increasing demand for cleaner transportation solutions across the nation.

    • The total number of electric vehicles in Turkey reached 476,934 as of August 2026.
    • The national charging infrastructure now consists of 47,908 active connection points.
    • ZES maintains its market leadership in terms of the total number of charging sockets.
    • The charging network landscape is dominated by ZES, followed by Trugo and Voltrun.

Charging Infrastructure Diversifies Between AC and DC Technologies

The success of the electric mobility ecosystem depends heavily on the availability and efficiency of charging stations. The data provided by the EPDK highlights that the 47,908 charging locations across Turkey are categorized by two main technological standards. Currently, 27,044 of these points utilize AC (alternating current) technology, which is suitable for standard charging durations. Meanwhile, 20,864 points offer DC (direct current) technology, designed specifically for rapid charging. This strategic distribution ensures that both urban commuters and long-distance travelers have adequate access to the power they need for their vehicles.

Market Competition Encourages Further Infrastructure Expansion

The competitive landscape among charging network operators continues to drive service improvements and infrastructure density. Leading the market by socket count, ZES currently holds the primary position. It is closely trailed by Trugo, the charging network initiative launched by Turkey’s domestic automobile manufacturer, Togg. Voltrun secures the third position in the sector, solidifying its presence as a key player in the industry. The sustained interest from both local and international investors remains a critical driver for the development of Turkey’s ambitious electric transportation vision.

Electric Vehicle Adoption Rates Show Significant Growth Trends

Statistical evidence confirms that the shift toward electric transportation is accelerating at an unprecedented rate. In 2022, the count of electric vehicles stood at 14,896, which climbed to 80,826 in 2023 and further increased to 185,513 by 2024. Following a total of 373,733 vehicles recorded at the end of last year, the addition of over 100,000 new electric vehicles within just eight months indicates a robust shift in consumer behavior. This upward trajectory demonstrates that users are gaining increased confidence in electric technology, making it a primary choice for new vehicle purchases.
