US-based technology and transportation giant Uber has acquired an 85 percent majority stake in Trendyol Go, one of Turkey’s leading online delivery platforms, for $700 million in cash. The acquisition will be made official after the approval of the relevant regulatory authorities.
Uber acquires Trendyol Go for $700 million
In a statement made by the Trendyol Group, it was reported that an agreement was reached for Trendyol Go to be incorporated into Uber Technologies. According to the agreement, Uber will continue its delivery operations in the Turkish market through Trendyol Go. The platform will continue to serve users, sellers and couriers in its current form.

With the completion of the acquisition, the basic features of Uber’s global food and grocery delivery network Uber Eats will be integrated into Trendyol Go. In this way, Uber aims to both preserve the local user experience in the Turkish market and expand its own global delivery infrastructure.
Trendyol Group President Çağlayan Çetin said in a statement, “We have full confidence that Trendyol GO will continue to grow and strengthen with its new structure.”
Trendyol Go currently provides services with 19,000 couriers across Turkey. The platform provides shopping and food delivery from over 90,000 restaurants and markets. With this move by Uber, competition in the delivery market in Turkey is expected to increase even more.
