The useful Windows Backup app is coming for Windows 11, which is still in the working process. Tests have already started. The Windows Backup application for Windows 11 has entered the “Insider Preview Build 23466”. In other words, the application can only be tested by Insiders at the moment.
It is unknown when the Windows Backup is open to everyone
The application brings to mind Time Machine, which has been offered by Apple on the macOS operating system since 2007. As it can be understood here, the application focuses on data backup. Unlike Time Machine, Windows Backup currently only backs up to the cloud. For this, you might need to buy OneDrive space. There is also a Free 5 GB option, but it won’t be enough for most people. The first impressions of the insiders are that the overall backup process is very painless.
Microsoft has also released an interface image for the app. Windows Backup takes installed apps, documents, photos, files, passwords and settings and stores them in the cloud. Microsoft also backs up Start Menu and Taskbar configurations to the cloud. Thanks to this infrastructure, when a new PC is installed or an existing PC is formatted, the process of going back is much faster. It also offers users a lot of customization when it comes to backup.
For example, some parts can be excluded from the backup if desired. It is not yet known when Microsoft will make the new app available to everyone. For now, the company briefly describes the app as follows: “We’re introducing this new app to help you quickly back up your current PC. We’re also introducing this new app to get you ready to move to a new computer. We’ll back up your information in the cloud, so you can rest easy knowing that even if something happens to this computer, your data is protected.”
