Xbox brings back the beloved feature after 10 years!
Microsoft is bringing back a feature Xbox users have been waiting for. Accordingly, classic friend requests will be accessible again. Removed more than 10 years ago, the system is now being tested as part of the Xbox Insider program.
Xbox brings back friend requests
With the Xbox One in 2013, Xbox introduced a social media-like follower system instead of friend requests. In this system, users could see other players’ activity streams without approval. Friendship was possible through mutual follow-up.

In line with the feedback, Microsoft stated that it wants to give users more control over their friend lists. Accordingly, it brought back the two-way and invitation-based friend request option. The new feature will be used in conjunction with the one-way follower system.

New friend requests will be accessible from the People tab on Xbox. Existing friends and followers will be automatically transferred when the feature launches. It will also be possible for users to choose who can send them requests and which notifications they receive.
Users who have signed up to the Xbox Insider channel will begin testing the revamped dating experience on their consoles and PCs. Once testing is complete, the feature is expected to be rolled out to a wider audience.
The return of the 10-year-old feature offers Xbox users a closer social experience. This will allow users to more effectively manage their connections and friend lists on the platform.
