While the design of the Smart Band 9 remains unchanged, it comes with a number of important updates. For the first time in this series, metal-bodied and white ceramic-coated versions are available. The battery life has been improved to last up to 21 days on a single charge, 5 days longer than the previous model.

Significant improvements have also been made to increase measurement accuracy. Xiaomi stated that sleep monitoring accuracy increased by 7.9% and heart rate monitoring accuracy increased by 16%. The Smart Band 9 is equipped with a 1.62-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The smart bracelet features a Bluetooth 5.4 module, more than 150 exercise modes and water resistance up to 5 ATM.
