In recent days, WhatsApp has been frequently mentioned. In addition to its features resembling Zoom, such as screen sharing on both mobile and web versions, a new feature is also coming. The era of “video messaging” is starting on WhatsApp. But what is this video messaging feature? How is it different from video calls? Here are the details…
Was there a need for messaging when there is video calling? How does the WhatsApp video messaging feature work?
The video messaging feature works similar to sending a one-time video to a user. It will function similarly to the voice messaging feature on WhatsApp. The video messaging button will be located in place of the voice messaging button.
Similar to voice messages, the video message will start recording when the button is pressed, opening the front camera to capture your video. It will then be saved within the chat. Just like voice messages, recordings will only be saved within the chat and will not appear in your gallery. Users within the chat will be able to play the video message whenever they want, just like with voice messages.
With this new feature, users can extend their video messages up to 60 seconds and deliver them to individuals in their chats. Your visuals will be presented in a circle to the recipient, allowing them to be quickly transmitted to users within the chat.
Video messages will also be end-to-end encrypted, just like voice messages. This will ensure the security of WhatsApp video messages. Some users who have installed WhatsApp’s iOS beta version with the code 23.12.0.71 and the Android beta version with the code 2.23.13.4 have already started using the video messaging feature. In other words, test usage of the feature has begun.
Another new feature coming to WhatsApp: Message editing
This feature, which finally puts an end to excuses like “my cousin wrote it,” is among the new additions to WhatsApp. As we mentioned at the beginning of our news, WhatsApp is currently keeping the agenda quite busy. Thanks to WhatsApp’s new editing feature, you can now edit a message you sent within 15 minutes. This helps eliminate the hassle of deleting or writing a new message. However, this feature only applies to text messages.
So, what do you think about WhatsApp’s new video messaging and message editing features? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section…
