Google is preparing to introduce a new security feature that can turn Android phones into vehicle cameras.
Phones have been continually evolving since they first entered our lives. Initially existing solely for communication, phones are now gaining many different features. As the years go by, phones that host new features seem likely to occupy a more significant place in our lives in the future.
Android phones will now be used as vehicle cameras
Google, which holds a significant place in the smartphone world with the Android operating system, wants to compete with companies like Apple and Samsung with its Pixel-branded phones. In this regard, Google, which continues to add new features to its phones, is preparing to introduce a new security feature that can turn Android phones into vehicle cameras.
The new Personal Safety feature uploaded to the Google Play Store reveals the company’s new plans. This feature, thought to have been accidentally released by Google, appears with the test version of the Personal Safety application. With the new vehicle camera feature offered in the ‘Be Prepared’ section of the Personal Safety application, smartphones will start to be used in a new field.
Both a phone and a security camera
Thanks to this feature, which can be set to activate manually or automatically when connected to a device, the camera can be used comfortably even when active. Moreover, the vehicle camera mode will allow videos to continue recording even when the screen is off.
It is stated that the recorded videos will occupy 30 MB per minute, and there is a maximum recording limit of up to 24 hours. We also see that users only have the option to record video in vehicle camera mode. Google also has an option to automatically delete the records three days later.
Considering that vehicle cameras usually have low resolution, it makes sense to use smartphones for this purpose. What do you think about using smartphones as vehicle cameras? You can share your opinions in the comments section.
