Apple has opened macOS 14.6 beta 1 to developers. This new beta comes on the heels of the macOS 15 Sequoia beta announced at WWDC24 last week. It’s not yet clear if the 14.6 beta includes any new features, but according to the developer notes, five major issues have been resolved. Let’s see what macOS 14.6 beta has fixed and how to download it.
What’s new and bug fixes in macOS 14.6
According to the developer notes, macOS 14.6 beta fixes bugs in several apps. On Apple Silicon Macs, unexpected app closures in ARKit, Core Spotlight, Finder, Video Subscriber Account, and Video Toolbox have been fixed.

Regarding ARKit, iPhone and iPad apps on Apple Silicon Macs were closing unexpectedly when launching ARSkeletonDefinition. This issue has been fixed. In Core Spotlight, an unexpected shutdown when issuing the -[CSSearchableItemAttributeSet setActionIdentifiers:] command has been fixed.
Fixed an issue in Finder where Home Videos were synchronized as Music Videos for iPod nano (7th generation). In Video Subscriber Account, an unexpected shutdown when referencing VSOpenTVProviderSettingsURLString has also been fixed.
Finally, an issue in Video Toolbox where certain video content was being rejected by the hardware decoder has been resolved and the software decoder is automatically selected, providing a seamless solution.
Apple plans to release the macOS 14.6 public beta later this week. Non-developer users should exercise caution before installing this release and not risk the stability of their Macs. Beta releases can often be full of bugs and issues, so back up your Mac before installing the beta.
