AI company Anthropic is bringing its technology, which takes the concept of a digital assistant a step further, to end users. The Claude Chrome extension, previously exclusive to “Max” subscribers paying $200 per month, is now available to all paid Claude subscribers (including the Pro package) following an update.
AI that clicks for you
This extension promises much more than a standard chatbot. Part of Anthropic’s “Computer Use” vision, the tool can navigate websites on your behalf. Its capabilities include:
- Form Filling: Automatically fills out complex forms based on the information provided.
- Calendar and Email Management: Manages your calendar and emails directly from your browser.
- Multi-Step Tasks: Handles multiple steps such as “retrieve data from this site, enter it into this form, and save” with a single command.
You can teach Claude your job
The most striking feature of the latest version of the extension is the “registration” mode. Users can record a workflow and teach Claude how to do it by saying, “This is how you do it.” Additionally, Anthropic’s AI coding tool, Claude Code, has been integrated into the system for developers.
This move has intensified competition. OpenAI offers similar “agent” capabilities with its ChatGPT Atlas browser, and Perplexity with Comet. The only giant remaining silent in this field is Google. While Gemini answers questions within Chrome, it cannot yet manage the browser on behalf of the user because the project codenamed “Project Mariner” has not yet been launched.
So, does entrusting control of your computer or browser to artificial intelligence feel safe to you? Will the Claude Chrome extension make your work easier? Share your thoughts in the comments!
