Kiwi Talkz, a former employee of Rockstar Games, claimed in a (now deleted) podcast episode that GTA 6 will run on PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms, capped at 30 FPS. In addition, no information was given about the resolution at which the game will run. Here are the details…
Rumour has it that GTA 6 will run with 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X!
For comparison, GTA 5 was also limited to 30 FPS on PS3/PS4 and Xbox 360/Xbox One platforms. The game received the 60 FPS update when it came to PS5 / Xbox Series platforms. We know that Rockstar Games has made a great effort to make the open world of GTA 6 more detailed and realistic. The 30 FPS limitation may have been preferred to maximise the visual quality and physical details of the game. As you know, especially in games that offer a large and dynamic world, high resolution and details can affect the frame rate.

However, given Rockstar’s past successes, there is no doubt that GTA 6 will optimise the balance between performance and visual quality. Players will likely compensate for this limitation with the rich content and compelling storyline the game offers. It’s also possible that 60 FPS support will be added in future updates.
If we look at previous leaks, GTA 6 is claimed to be released on 17 September. This date is in line with Take-Two’s officially announced plan to release in autumn 2025. Also, this date coincides with the 12th anniversary of the release of GTA 5. Some gamers may be disappointed that GTA 6 will be limited to 30 FPS. However, Rockstar Games is thought to be concentrating on the game’s visual quality and open world experience.
