Discord is introducing new updates to the Discord Family Center feature to help parents better understand and manage their teens’ experiences on the platform. These updates aim to provide parents with greater control while protecting privacy.
What does the Discord Family Center offer parents?
The platform gives parents a better overview of their children’s activities. With the new features, parents can now see all purchases from the last seven days. They can also track exactly how much time their teens spend on voice and video calls (including servers, group messages, and direct messages).

With the new update, parents will be able to see the five users and servers their teens have called or messaged most often in the past week. However, Discord maintains its stance on privacy. Parents cannot see the content of messages sent by their teens.
New parent-managed settings are also being added to the Family Center. These settings include the ability to determine who can send direct messages (DMs) to a teen and whether sensitive content filters are enabled. Parents will also have access to certain data privacy controls.
Discord is adding another feature that encourages communication. Teens will have the option to notify their parents when they report a user or content to Discord. The parent will receive an email stating that the teen has created a report, but the details of the report will not be shared. The goal is to allow the parent to talk to their child about the issue and provide support.
To use Family Center, both parents and teens need to link their accounts. Teens can see the same information through Family Center as their parents and can disconnect at any time.
