Chrome OS Flex was designed to run older PCs and Macs. According to Google’s blog post, the operating system can be installed on computers in minutes. The operating system runs on Intel or AMD x86 processors but does not yet support ARM.
The operating system’s features, which can perform tasks very quickly on old computers with its simple and lucid structure, may vary. The system can turn off some of its features according to which hardware is installed. Some features are not available in Chrome OS does not support this hardware. Briefly, experience is variable. How to install Chrome OS Flex on old computers
Install the Chromebook Recovery Utility add-on from Chrome Web Store. Once downloaded, click on the icon, insert the USB, and follow the onscreen instructions.
- Click Get started.
- Tap on Select a model from a list.
- Select Google Chrome OS Flex inside Select the Manufacturer.
- Choose Chrome OS Flex (Developer-Unstable), and click Continue.
- Assign the USB media for installation. (Use USB 3.0 if that’s available)
- Finally, click on Create now.
Note: If the computer cannot boot from USB, you may need to update the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Who can use Google Chrome OS Flex
There are about 300 devices that can switch to the operating system. Non-certified devices can also use the system. The functions that certified computers can use without any problems are as follows:
