Fast & Furious 11, planned as the final film in the Fast & Furious series, is facing another significant delay. Originally scheduled for release on April 4, 2025, the film was first pushed back to the summer of 2026 and then to April 2027. However, recent developments suggest that this date may now be out of date.
Bad News About Fast & Furious 11
The film’s future was once again in the spotlight this week when co-star Jason Momoa spoke to The Playlist. Momoa said he was excited about the Fast X sequel but hadn’t yet received a script. The fact that the script for such a large and ambitious final film in the series hasn’t yet been written reveals that the project’s delays have reached significant proportions.

The delay is reportedly not solely due to the production process itself, but also due to more complex factors behind the scenes. The sexual assault case involving Vin Diesel, the series’ lead actor and producer, is a key factor in the uncertainty surrounding the production.
Diesel, who was originally expected to appear before a jury this year, has had his trial postponed until February 2026. Universal Pictures is reportedly awaiting the outcome of the trial and is therefore cautiously approaching preparations for Fast & Furious 11.
If Diesel is acquitted in court, production is expected to resume. However, a potential conviction would directly impact not only Diesel’s career but also the future of the Fast & Furious franchise. In this case, the possibility of the studio canceling the project entirely remains open.
The franchise’s commercial success to date has led to high anticipation for each new film. However, recent developments indicate that both the production schedule and confidence in the project have been severely shaken. It remains unclear whether Fast & Furious 11 will be released in summer 2027, or even whether it will be filmed at all.
